The Port Harcourt Host Communities Development Trust, in partnership with TotalEnergies EP Nigeria and the NNPC Joint Venture, has empowered 10 community members with brand-new 2026 model Kaiyi E5 vehicles. The initiative is part of its transport empowerment scheme under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021. At the same ceremony, 150 beneficiaries completed vocational training across seven fields: Catering (28), Pipeline Welding (13), Poultry Farming (14), ICT/Cybersecurity (45), Hairdressing (7), Fashion Designing (30) and Fishing (13). Certificates were presented to mark the graduation of the second training batch. Trust Chairman Chief Sam Soni Ejekwu encouraged recipients to use the vehicles responsibly under a five-year maintenance agreement and urged graduates to establish viable businesses. He pledged ongoing support and potential funding for committed entrepreneurs. TotalEnergies’ General Manager Barr. Dornu Kogam praised the Trust for this “first-of-its-kind” empowerment model, reaffirming the company’s commitment to sustainable host community development and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

It's interesting they chose the 2026 Kaiyi E5 model, yet ten vehicles might still fall short of real transport demands in host communities.
