Katsina Police Raid Criminal Dens, Arrest 26 Suspects

Police in Katsina State arrested 26 suspects in an intelligence-driven raid on the early hours of April 14. The SWAT-led operation targeted known criminal hideouts across the state capital. Authorities recovered live ammunition, a sword, cutlasses, knives, sticks, a saw, six suspected stolen phones, substances believed to be Indian hemp, Exol tablets and military camouflage shirts. Spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu said all suspects have been charged to court after investigations. The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar-Fage, praised the operatives and urged residents to keep sharing credible information to boost public safety. On the same day, Governor Dikko Radda signed an executive order banning thuggery groups across the metropolis to further curb crime.

Recovering a saw alongside swords and live ammo suggests these groups are well equipped, but I question the long term impact.

Arresting suspects is one thing, but unless follow through prosecutions happen, these figures could just return to villainy on the streets.
