Yoruba Elders Urge NDC Yorubas to Unite Behind Peter Obi’s 2027 Bid

Yoruba Elders Urge NDC Yorubas to Unite Behind Peter Obi’s 2027 Bid

Prominent Yoruba elders have urged Yoruba members of the NDC to close ranks and avoid actions that could undermine Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition. At a recent stakeholders’ meeting in the South-West, they stressed that national interest and good governance must outweigh ethnic or regional politics. They described Obi’s candidacy as a chance to judge leadership by competence, integrity, and economic vision rather than tribal sentiment. A spokesperson warned that internal divisions could weaken the party’s ability to mount a strong challenge in the next election. The elders appealed to leaders across the South-West to promote peaceful campaigns, focus on issue-based debates, and foster national unity as the election season approaches.

Party members should balance unity with open dialogue by hosting local town halls to address concerns and keep grassroots engagement strong.
