Anambra Officials Unveil 10-Point Flood Control Plan at State Assembly
Three commissioners and two permanent secretaries appeared before the Anambra State House of Assembly to discuss strategies for managing and preventing flood disasters. Under matters of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi, the team submitted a ten-point plan. Recommendations include establishing environmental monitoring officers, improving equipment for urban planning and road works, enforcing strict drainage standards, supervising local waste disposal, and creating community reporting channels for blocked drains. Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze announced that Governor Charles Soludo has declared Saturday, July 4, 2026, a state-wide desilting and waste disposal day. He urged lawmakers to mobilise their constituents for the sanitation exercise ahead of the peak rainy season.
