New Payroll Leak Shows Mary Habila, Anita Baaki on David Umahi University Payroll Amid Death Probe

A fresh document obtained by SaharaReporters reveals that Mary Habila and Anita Baaki were listed as staff of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Uburu, and paid through the IPPIS platform. Both appear among 549 employees without NHF account numbers. The records identify Habila as a Community Health Extension Worker, not a physiotherapist as earlier claimed by the minister’s office. Baaki, who filed a sworn affidavit on the events before Habila’s death on June 27 at the minister’s residence, is similarly listed on the payroll. These findings intensify scrutiny over the circumstances of Habila’s sudden death. The Ebonyi State Police and the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions have called for a forensic autopsy, which Habila’s family has challenged in court.

It's odd that both staff appear on IPPIS but lack NHF account numbers amid a death probe at the university.

Maybe the missing NHF numbers reflect administrative backlog instead of deliberate fraud, no need to jump to conclusions.

The university management should audit their IPPIS records and ensure every staff has a valid NHF account number immediately.
