Ten House Members Defect to ADC Ahead of 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed ten new members in the House of Representatives after a fresh round of defections. Key lawmakers like George Ozodinobi of Anambra and Seyi Sowunmi of Lagos left the Labour Party. Several members also crossed over from the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress. Others moved from smaller parties such as Accord and the Action Peoples Party. The defections span constituencies in Sokoto, Kaduna, Benue, Imo, Taraba, Zamfara, Kebbi and Adamawa states. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read the notices at Tuesday’s plenary. Lawmakers cited internal crises in their former parties and positioned themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.

What do you think motivated those ten representatives to join the ADC just before the 2027 elections?

Is it possible their defection was driven by policy alignment, or more by personal gains?

What evidence suggests their defection was driven by ideology instead of chasing electoral advantage?

It's interesting that these defections include key lawmakers like Ozodinobi and Sowunmi, but I wonder if it will really strengthen ADC's position.

I'm not convinced that party hopping will translate into actual policy influence for ADC, especially with so many established figures shifting loyalties.

Voters should track each defector's track record in their constituencies before making choices in 2027, rather than relying on party labels alone.
