Father and Son Arrested in Ogun for Illegal Firearm Possession

Father and Son Arrested in Ogun for Illegal Firearm Possession

On 5 April 2026, officers from the Ogun State Police Command Quick Response Squad stopped a tricycle along the Shagamu–Ogijo Road. They arrested a 13-year-old boy after finding a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, and a mask in his possession. The younger suspect named the firearm’s owner as his father, 38-year-old Joseph Kehinde M. Police promptly located and arrested the senior suspect. Both father and son were handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further questioning. The Commissioner of Police praised the team’s professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance policy on illegal weapons. He urged residents to share credible information through the state’s emergency lines to help maintain security.

Before we judge the father or police, consider the boy might have hidden those items without anyone's knowledge on that tricycle.

Local authorities could collaborate with schools and youth groups to teach children about the dangers of illegal weapons possession.
