NOUN to Award Degrees to 56 Inmates at 15th Convocation

The National Open University of Nigeria will award degrees to 56 inmates from correctional centres at its 15th convocation on April 18. The ceremony will be held across multiple study centres and will include 24,575 graduates in total. This initiative reflects NOUN’s inclusive policy of offering second chances through education. The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that no one is beyond redemption and described the programme as a “quiet revolution” in distance learning. By extending academic programmes into correctional facilities, NOUN aims to restore dignity and facilitate reintegration. Certificates will be issued immediately after the ceremony, highlighting the university’s commitment to efficiency and student-focused service.
