Burna Boy Sets Record as African Artist with Most Billboard Hot 100 Hits

Burna Boy Sets Record as African Artist with Most Billboard Hot 100 Hits

Nigerian Grammy winner Damini Ogulu, known globally as Burna Boy, has become the African artist with the most entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart. He surpassed his former tie with fellow Nigerian star Tems thanks to his new entry alongside Shakira on the official World Cup song “Dai Dai.” The track gained fresh momentum after the pair’s performance at the World Cup Opening Ceremony. Burna Boy also made history as the first African artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years.

I appreciate the milestone, yet it feels like Billboard metrics don't fully capture an artist's true cultural influence.

Surpassing Tems is a headline, but perhaps it's collaboration hype rather than solo consistency driving those chart entries.
