Still Here: Mercy Aigbe Celebrates 20 Years of Star Power

Still Here: Mercy Aigbe Celebrates 20 Years of Star Power — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Mercy Aigbe is marking 20 years in Nollywood with a reflective message and a clip from the movie that launched her career. She shared that after two decades, she’s still here, still evolving, walking in purpose, and becoming, thanking God for His guidance. A fan recently dubbed her the ‘003’ of Nollywood, which inspired her to post a lively video of herself dancing to “Fast Fast Comot.” Last year, she beat several peers to win Best Supporting Actress at the 11th AMVCA for her role in Farmer’s Bride. On the production side, Mercy’s debut film, Ada Omo Daddy, grossed ₦187 million and ranked among the top three highest-grossing movies of 2023. Her follow-up, Thin Line, also surpassed ₦100 million at the box office. She says one of her greatest joys is seeing her films resonate with audiences and inspire emotions — a reward that fuels her passion for storytelling.

Not many actors reflect on purpose and growth after twenty years, and Mercy's gratitude offers a rare glimpse into her personal journey.

I appreciate Mercy's milestone, but celebrating two decades with just a single movie clip feels shallow without deeper insights into her growth.

As she enters year twenty one, Mercy could start workshops or panel talks to help up-and-coming Nollywood actors learn from her experience.
