Beyond 'Tinubu Must Go': Who Offers a Real Alternative for Nigeria?
The slogan “Tinubu Must Go” reflects widespread frustration over economic hardship, inflation, insecurity, and rising living costs. But democracy requires choices, not just anger. Opposition figures such as Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Atiku Abubakar each present distinct visions. Obi champions fiscal discipline and low-cost governance but lacks a strong national structure. Kwankwaso commands grassroots loyalty in the North yet remains regional in influence. Atiku brings experience and support for economic liberalisation but faces questions over repeated electoral defeats and his privatization legacy. Beyond personalities, Nigeria’s opposition is fragmented. This fragmentation makes it difficult to transform public discontent into a coherent electoral challenge. Lasting progress depends on strong institutions, policy continuity, and accountable leadership beyond individual officeholders. Instead of asking only who should go, Nigerians must ask what governance system can deliver stability, security, and social inclusion for all.
