Northern Coalition Slams Amotekun Ethnic Profiling and Rebukes Igboho’s Ultimatum
The Coalition of Northern Groups has condemned reports of ethnic profiling and public harassment of Hausa/Fulani residents by Amotekun operatives in Ondo State. It also rejected Sunday Igboho’s alleged two-hour ultimatum to Fulani communities in Igboho, Oyo State, following a kidnapping. The group warned that collective punishment and stereotyping fuel tensions and undermine national unity. It stressed that criminal acts occur across all regions and that responsibility lies with individuals, not entire ethnic groups. Calling for intelligence-led policing, the coalition urged authorities to investigate the alleged misconduct, sanction culpable officers and reaffirm the rights of all lawful residents regardless of ethnic origin. It appealed to the federal government to treat ethnic profiling as a serious threat to cohesion.
