Akpabio Blames Opposition for Surge in Insecurity, Predicts It Will End Two Weeks After Election

Senate President Godswill Akpabio accused opposition figures of sponsoring the recent wave of violence in Nigeria. Speaking at the commissioning of the new Nigerian Revenue Service headquarters in Abuja, he claimed the unrest is a deliberate tactic to undermine the government ahead of the 2027 polls. He said insecurity would end two weeks after the election and urged Nigerians to trust President Tinubu’s efforts. He also mocked rival parties’ internal divisions, indirectly referring to the former Labour Party candidate’s departure. Akpabio praised the NRS leadership and highlighted the new three-tower complex as a sign of progress in modernizing revenue collection.

Communities should start local security forums and liaise with authorities now, instead of waiting for post-election promises to improve safety.
