My Journey from A1 to C1: A Guide to Learning German

German opens many global opportunities, especially in Europe. I have studied the language for over two years, reached B2 and am now at C1. I share my experiences to help beginners start from scratch and for others looking to improve. The first level is A1, just like many European languages. You can attend language schools in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Port Harcourt or learn online with enough discipline. The most prominent centre in Nigeria remains the Goethe-Institut in Victoria Island, Lagos. Whether you choose in-person classes or online resources, consistent practice and good guidance are key to progressing in German.

I'm not convinced grammar drills alone improve fluency as much as real conversations; immersion or speaking practice seems more crucial.

Setting daily achievable goals like learning five new verbs and practicing a short dialogue can accelerate progress from one CEFR level to the next.
