‘We Are Not Afraid’: Omisore Backers, Including Ex-Commissioner, Resign from APC in Osun

‘We Are Not Afraid’: Omisore Backers, Including Ex-Commissioner, Resign from APC in Osun

On June 6, 2026, Taiwo Akeju, former Commissioner for Political Affairs in Osun State, resigned from the All Progressives Congress. He is a known loyalist of former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore. Two other party chieftains, Jamiu Olawumi and Chief Sunday Ojo-Williams, also handed in their resignation letters. Olawumi previously served as Special Adviser on Education and was spokesperson for the Omisore Campaign Organisation. Earlier this week, three more Omisore supporters quit the APC after the party’s December 2025 governorship primary. They include former Assembly members Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakare and Folorunso Oladoyin. Osun APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi dismissed the departures. He said the party has gained more members than it lost and insisted, “Fear is not in our dictionary. We are not afraid.”
