How Tinubu Could Legally Secure a Third Term
This post outlines the exact constitutional steps President Tinubu would need to follow for a third term. First, any amendment bill must win a two-thirds majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. With APC’s current seat count, this threshold is within reach. Next, at least 24 state assemblies must approve the change. APC controls enough states to meet this requirement. Finally, the president must sign the bill into law. If Tinubu wins re-election, he could initiate these amendments. In my view, he is also well-positioned to support the Igbo cause for Biafra given his party’s legislative strength.
