PRP Faction Petitions INEC, Challenges Baba-Ahmed’s Chairmanship

PRP Faction Petitions INEC, Challenges Baba-Ahmed’s Chairmanship

A faction of the People’s Redemption Party has filed a petition with INEC, disputing the legitimacy of Hakeem Baba-Ahmed’s emergence as National Chairman. The group argues that the convention organized by former chair Malam Falalu Bello violated the party constitution established by late founder Balarabe Musa. They maintain Bello had no authority to hand over leadership unilaterally. After staging a parallel convention, the faction says it has conducted its own primaries and submitted names of its candidates, including Dr. Sani Salih Mustapha as its 2027 presidential nominee. The group is awaiting INEC’s response and warns that it will pursue court action if its petition is not recognized.

What kind of evidence would this faction need to convince INEC that Baba-Ahmed's election was flawed?

I agree—solid, verifiable polling unit tallies, signed witness statements and audited returns would be essential.

I'm not convinced INEC will overturn a party decision solely based on this petition without more solid evidence.

The faction should document violations clearly and seek a swift ruling from INEC to avoid prolonged internal conflict.
