Delta Police Raid Cyber Fraud Den, Arrest 34 Suspects

Delta Police Raid Cyber Fraud Den, Arrest 34 Suspects

Delta State Quick Response Squad operatives stormed a residential apartment in Opete and arrested 34 suspected internet fraudsters. The raid followed a distress call from a woman who said her younger brother was held hostage and forced to commit cybercrime. State police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said officers uncovered a well-organised fraud network operating from the converted apartment. During the operation, they seized 37 laptops, an iPad, seven mobile phones and a calabash believed to contain charms used in the scheme. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full scale of the group’s activities and identify other accomplices.

Any proof they were coerced into cyberfraud before this raid, or is that just hearsay?

The quick raid seems efficient, but I wonder how the police verify these individuals aren't wrongly accused without thorough investigation.

While the rescue story sounds compelling, maybe the initial distress call wasn't the only factor driving the operation's timing and scale.
