From Flour to Freeways: How the Chagoury Group Shapes Nigeria
Writing a hit piece about someone you dislike is easy. Pick a name, attach a few claims and watch the internet reward the drama. But let’s look at the facts. The Chagoury Group has operated in Nigeria for decades across construction, manufacturing, hospitality, real estate and services. They employ thousands of Nigerians and drive private-sector job creation. They produce flour, glass and bottled water locally. Each domestically made product keeps foreign exchange in the country and reduces import dependence. Hitech Construction has built roads and bridges that help goods move and patients reach hospitals. Eko Atlantic City reclaimed land from the ocean to protect Victoria Island’s coastline, attract investment and create ongoing jobs. Eko Hotels hosts conferences and international delegations, showcasing Lagos to the world. Healthy scrutiny of powerful figures is necessary. But it’s dishonest to erase real contributions. The Chagoury Group has created jobs, built infrastructure and fostered industries governments struggled to develop. You may dislike the man, but don’t deny what’s been built.
