Ex-CBN Governor Returns ₦4 Trillion in Major Recovery Drive
Sources say former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele has returned ₦4 trillion to the Federal Government and relinquished ownership of six banks linked to him. Former Deputy Governor Tunde Lemo reportedly refunded $500 million. Investigators also traced $275 million to an account tied to a presidential aide’s six-year-old son, plus an additional ₦1.5 trillion connected to the same network. The probe, led by Jim Obazee, has uncovered over ₦12 trillion so far. These figures remain unverified. If confirmed, this would stand as one of Nigeria’s largest anti-corruption recoveries.
