ANOH Gas Plant in Imo Strengthens South-East’s Role in Nigeria’s Energy Future
The Assa North–Ohaji South (ANOH) Gas Processing Plant in Imo State is strengthening the South-East’s role in Nigeria’s gas development. The multi-billion-dollar facility is located near major gas reserves and is connected to key transmission infrastructure, including the OB3 pipeline. The ANOH field is estimated to hold between 4.3 trillion and 5 trillion cubic feet of gas. Its location close to producing fields could reduce transportation costs and improve supply to power plants, manufacturers, petrochemical firms and households. The project supports Nigeria’s Decade of Gas agenda, which aims to expand domestic gas use, electricity generation and industrial production. Increased investment in gas infrastructure could create jobs, attract industry and improve energy supply, provided host communities and governments work together to protect assets and deliver inclusive development.
