Nigerian Navy Arrests Notorious Pipeline Vandal ‘Idiot’ and Accomplice in Bayelsa
Operatives of the Nigerian Navy have arrested a suspected pipeline vandal kingpin known as “Idiot” during a night market operation in Bayelsa State. The suspect, identified as Mr. Godwin, was allegedly extorting illegal levies from traders when he was apprehended by personnel from Forward Operating Base FORMOSO in Ekeremo Local Government Area. Intelligence linked the suspect to a criminal syndicate that targets pipelines along the Clough Creek axis. During a follow-up search of his residence, naval troops repelled armed resistance from gang members and recovered communication devices and tools used for illegal operations. Further intelligence led to the arrest of another suspect, Mr. Happiness, in a separate operation. Both individuals have been handed over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps for investigation and prosecution. The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to aggressive operations against crude oil theft and warned criminal elements to desist from illegal activities or face decisive action.
