Travelers on the Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa highway are seeing a major transformation. The Federal Government’s 108km concrete road project is advancing at pace. On the Ilesa/Iwaraja side, over 40km of rigid pavement has been completed. Crews are now clearing terrain near the Ife junction to prepare for the next paving phase. From the Ibadan/Ikire end, concrete surfacing is already in place on several stretches. Clearing has reached Ikire on one carriageway. This durable concrete road is designed to last 50 years, reducing potholes and improving safety for traders, students and commuters.

Completing 40km on the Ilesa/Iwaraja side shows real progress, though similar projects often stall after initial hype.

Not convinced this 40km stretch was the road's worst section—priorities seem skewed when other pothole-ridden segments remain untouched.

Motorists can benefit from monitoring highway bulletins for lane closures around the Ife junction and planning travel during off-peak hours.
