Four Killed as Gunmen in Military Uniforms Raid Sokoto Community

At least four people were killed and several others injured after suspected bandits, allegedly dressed in military uniforms, raided Unguwan Lalke in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Residents said the attackers, estimated to be about 200, invaded the community from several directions around 8 p.m. on Sunday and operated until about 2 a.m. They reportedly looted homes and shops, stole livestock, and fired at residents attempting to flee. The raid reportedly began shortly after troops who had responded to an earlier attack withdrew from the area. Residents said the bandits used routes away from a military checkpoint and positioned armed men at strategic points. Police confirmed that a farmer was killed in the area on Sunday but said they had not yet received a briefing on the reported community attack.
