El-Rufai Alleges ICPC Denied Him Medical Care During Detention

El-Rufai Alleges ICPC Denied Him Medical Care During Detention

Aide Muyiwa Adekeye says former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai reported swollen, red and itchy eyes while in ICPC custody but was refused proper treatment. Relatives and two ICPC officers noted his condition, yet no doctor was summoned. Adekeye claims an official falsely told el-Rufai’s family that he didn’t want medical attention. He adds that el-Rufai had a court order allowing him access to personal doctors, which the ICPC ignored despite his worsening discomfort. The spokesman urges the anti-graft agency to respect the court ruling and human rights by arranging prompt medical care. The ICPC has yet to respond to these allegations.
