US Lobbyist Questions Authenticity of Trump’s Letter to Tinubu

A US lobbying group is probing the authenticity of a letter President Tinubu says he received from Donald Trump. The letter is dated July 6, 2026, but was released 16 days later, on July 22. This delay has raised questions about its timing and purpose. The group argues the release may aim to counter drug trafficking allegations against Tinubu that are currently before the US government. It also notes that only quoted excerpts have been shared, with no scanned copy of the original. Even if genuine, the statement says the letter reads like a routine diplomatic response drafted by White House staff. Hundreds of similar boilerplate letters are issued every month and do not necessarily reflect the US President’s personal views. The lobbyists plan to verify the content with contacts in the White House. As of now, neither US officials nor independent sources have confirmed the letter’s authenticity.

It's odd a letter dated July 6 only appeared publicly on July 22, raising valid doubts about its timing.

True, the gap feels fishy. Maybe it's bureaucratic lag, but timing still begs more questions.

Labelling the letter suspicious for its release date alone overlooks the possibility of routine bureaucratic delays.

A public disclosure of the letter's chain of custody could quickly resolve questions about its authenticity and release timeline.
