Rabiu’s $1.1M Bid to Acquire 70% Stake in Kano Pillars FC

Rabiu’s $1.1M Bid to Acquire 70% Stake in Kano Pillars FC

Africa’s third richest man and BUA Group CEO, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has officially offered $1.1 million to purchase 70 percent of NPFL club Kano Pillars from the Kano State Government. The Nigerian Professional Football League recently urged state-owned teams to privatize by selling 50–75 percent stakes to private investors. Rabiu’s proposal follows a closed-door meeting with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. If approved, this deal would mark the first time Kano Pillars transitions into partial private ownership in its history. Many expect it to reshape club management and investment in Nigerian football.

Do you think Rabiu's $1.1M bid will really transform Kano Pillars, or is it just another state-to-private shuffle?

Do we know which areas Rabiu intends to invest in first once he owns 70%?

It feels odd that Africa's third richest man is offering such a modest sum for a top NPFL club stake.

Best move would be to set transparent performance targets for the private owner to boost local talent and community support.
