FG Launches Measures to Slash Cooking Gas Prices and Boost LPG Supply

FG Launches Measures to Slash Cooking Gas Prices and Boost LPG Supply

The Federal Government has convened an emergency stakeholders’ meeting to address the recent surge in cooking gas prices. Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, regulators, gas producers and industry associations met to review supply challenges and market instability. Speakers emphasised LPG as a vital energy source for millions of households. They highlighted factors such as high landing costs, infrastructure gaps and logistics bottlenecks. They also noted that supply sufficiency increased from 11 to 22 days following recent interventions. Agreed measures include stricter market monitoring, expanded storage facilities, improved distribution infrastructure and transparent pricing. Operators have been directed to implement these actions immediately to ensure more affordable cooking gas nationwide.
