MC Oluomo: Adeleke Has No Power to Suspend NURTW Activities in Osun
The National Union of Road Transport Workers has inaugurated a seven-member caretaker committee to oversee its affairs in Osun State, despite Governor Ademola Adeleke’s suspension of the union’s activities in motor parks. The committee, chaired by Kazeem Oyewale, was inaugurated at the union’s national headquarters in Abuja. The state government had halted NURTW operations and levy collection after violent clashes between rival factions, directing security agencies to arrest anyone operating in the union’s name. Speaking for NURTW President Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, Deputy President Aliyu Issa Ore said no state governor has the power to suspend the union because it is not controlled by any state government. He said the caretaker committee would provide leadership in Osun while outstanding issues are resolved, including matters linked to the forthcoming governorship election.
