Liverpool to Let Mohamed Salah Leave as Free Agent This Summer

Liverpool to Let Mohamed Salah Leave as Free Agent This Summer — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Liverpool will allow club legend Mohamed Salah to depart Anfield as a free agent at the end of the season. The club has announced a series of farewell celebrations to honour his legacy. Despite having one year remaining on his contract, Liverpool has agreed to waive any transfer fee. This gesture recognises Salah’s immense contributions and gives him the freedom to explore his next move. Interest is already strong from the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer. Salah leaves Merseyside as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, having won two Premier League titles, the Champions League and several domestic cups. Liverpool’s decision follows rare precedents in European football, such as Real Madrid releasing Raúl in 2010 and Manchester United letting Cristiano Ronaldo go by mutual consent in 2022.

I'm not convinced this is disastrous—players move on all the time. Salah's legacy at Liverpool is still solid.

It's odd Liverpool would waive a transfer fee for their top scorer when they could still sell him.

I'm not convinced we need all these farewell parties; performances on the pitch matter more than ceremonies.

Liverpool's recruitment team should identify a young winger now to ensure a smooth transition next season.
