Tope Fasua: ‘No Empirical Evidence That All Nigerians Are Suffering’
In a recent television interview, President Tinubu’s economic adviser Tope Fasua defended the administration’s reforms and urged Nigerians to focus on gains as well as challenges. He highlighted that private-sector wages have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled for many workers, and noted that the minimum wage has risen from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000. Fasua also praised states for clearing long-standing salary arrears and commended new measures that grant local councils direct funding to drive grassroots development. While admitting reforms can cause short-term discomfort, he argued they have strengthened government finances and created fresh opportunities nationwide. Fasua maintained there is no solid data showing universal suffering and called for a more balanced view of the economy’s progress.
