Surprising Disparities in Nigerian State Statistics
These figures reveal odd discrepancies across Nigerian states. Ogun’s population is double that of Osun, yet Osun hosts almost as many banks and hotels. Anambra’s population is only slightly above Imo or Osun, but it has four times their auto dealerships and twice as many as Oyo, ranking second only to Lagos. Similarly, Oyo has ten times more poultry farms than Anambra despite only doubling its population. In agriculture, Kano leads the North in population but ranks ninth in maize production, and the entire North produces about the same volume of maize as the South.
