Emmanuel Ekong’s Hajduk Split Move Collapses After Failed Medical

Emmanuel Ekong’s planned season-long loan from Malmö to Croatian side Hajduk Split collapsed after he did not pass a routine medical. Hajduk pulled out of the deal following local media reports that the 23-year-old striker failed his assessment. Ekong was left out of Malmö’s squad for its recent Allsvenskan match as negotiations were in the final stages. He is now set to return to Sweden while his parent club considers other options before the window closes. The Nigerian-born forward joined Malmö from Empoli and has represented Sweden at youth level, though he remains eligible to play for Nigeria through his heritage.

It's curious that Hajduk Split opted out so quickly after routine checks, especially considering Ekong's age and potential reported by Malmö.

I'm not convinced this was only about medical results; seems like clubs always find an excuse when a loan feels inconvenient.

Malmö should arrange a follow-up health assessment and consider interim training plans so Ekong stays match fit while sorting transfer options.
