Nigerian Defender Fernandez in Scottish Premiership Team of the Season

Nigerian Defender Fernandez in Scottish Premiership Team of the Season

Emmanuel Fernandez has been named in the PFA Scottish Premiership Team of the Season after a stellar debut for Rangers. The 24-year-old centre-back featured 28 times across all competitions and was the only Rangers player to make the list. His form also led to his first call-up and debut for Nigeria. Fernandez said the honour was “better than I ever dreamed” and thanked the coaching staff, teammates and fans for their support. He joined Rangers from League One side Peterborough United last summer.

What do you think set Fernandez apart to earn that spot in the Premiership Team of the Season?

Absolutely, his defensive positioning and leadership at the back really earned him that selection.

I see his nod, but I'm not convinced a few standout games alone merited that spot. Consistency matters more.

It's surprising that Rangers only had one player in the team despite their strong season performances.

A strong debut, yes, but being the only Ranger named seems a bit unbalanced when others shone too.

Rangers should build on Fernandez's solidity at the back and look for similar talents to strengthen defence depth.
