Idanre Regent Pledges Zero Tolerance for Violence, Partners with Police to Secure Primaries — 1 of 3
1 / 3

High Chief Akinloye Akinboni, Regent and Ojomu of Idanre Land, has pledged to uphold peace and stability ahead of the upcoming political party primaries. He declared zero tolerance for violence, thuggery, or any act that could disturb the kingdom’s harmony. During a courtesy visit by Ondo State Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal to the Idanre palace, both leaders discussed proactive security measures. The Regent outlined steps taken since the February unrest, warned community figures against sponsoring violence, and called on traditional religion adherents to invoke ancestral powers against troublemakers. The Regent appealed for upgraded police formations to bolster public safety, while CP Lawal commended the community’s peaceful disposition and urged residents to support policing efforts through neighbourhood vigilance and vigilante groups. The meeting closed with a firm commitment from both the traditional institution and the police to work together for a peaceful and violence-free political process in Idanre.

While heavy police presence might deter violence briefly, it risks escalating tensions if community trust isn't built alongside enforcement.

E sure say police partnership go strengthen security, but forming local peace committees will maintain calm during primaries.
