On International Women’s Day, Abimbola Odunmbaku called for women to share leadership roles equally with men. She stressed the need for real economic empowerment so women can contribute fully to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria. Speaking at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos Island, she joined Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Funmilayo Layeni and other women leaders. Abimbola urged the government to move beyond lip service and adopt bold measures that secure women’s rights. She highlighted the growing cases of domestic violence and sexual abuse. She appealed to civil society groups and government agencies to protect women’s dignity and safety. Abimbola commended empowerment programmes in Ojodu LCDA and encouraged Nigerian women to use this occasion to re-energise their participation in politics and build sustainable businesses.
