Operation Delta Shield: Police Dismantle Criminal Hideouts in Asaba
The Delta State Police Command has stepped up security in Asaba and nearby communities. On April 8, squads from the Department of Operations, Buffalo, Crack, Rapid Response, Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-crime, and Operation Delta Shield launched coordinated patrols around Okpanam bush and adjoining areas. Officers combed suspected safe havens, dismantling shanties and makeshift camps used by criminal elements, including suspected IPOB/ESN actors. Confidence-building patrols reassured residents, farmers and traders of their safety. Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi says this is part of ongoing proactive measures to prevent crime and protect lives and property. The public is urged to stay vigilant and share credible information. Similar operations will extend to other parts of the state.
