Putin Offers to Mediate After US-Iran Negotiations Collapse
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has stepped forward to help defuse rising tensions in the Middle East after talks between the United States and Iran broke down. The Kremlin announced that Putin spoke with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and is ready to support diplomatic efforts toward a lasting peace. He may even host or co-chair new discussions to bridge gaps between the two sides. The US delegation, which included advisors such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, left Islamabad without an agreement. Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Washington failed to earn Tehran’s trust despite receiving useful proposals. US Vice President JD Vance was also linked to a stopover in Germany during the stalled process.
