US Imposes Visa Ban on Religious Persecutors Linked to Violence in Nigeria
The United States has announced strict visa restrictions against anyone found to have violated religious freedom. Principal Advisor for Global Religious Freedom Mark Walker confirmed that individuals who direct, fund, or carry out persecution will be barred from entering America. Under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, these bans can extend to immediate family members when appropriate. This follows Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s December directive, and the policy is already in effect. Walker specifically cited mass killings and attacks on Christians by radical Islamist terrorists, Fulani militias, and other violent groups in Nigeria and beyond. He emphasized that the US is safer when those responsible for religious persecution cannot enter its borders.
