Ekiti Court Sentences Man to Death for Robbing Five BOUESTI Students

An Ekiti State High Court in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced 37-year-old Tunde Kazeem to death by hanging after convicting him on five counts of armed robbery. The court found that Kazeem robbed five students of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, on October 2, 2024. The students were robbed of phones valued at about ₦680,000. A victim told the court that the robber entered their room armed with a double-barrel pistol, loaded cartridges into the gun and ordered them to surrender their phones. The prosecution called seven witnesses and presented exhibits, including confessional statements, ATM cards and a search warrant. Justice Lekan Olatawura ruled that the armed robbery charge had been proved and said the law prescribed no lesser punishment. The judge sentenced Kazeem to be hanged by the neck until dead.
