Ogun State Launches Multi-Agency School Security Initiative
The Ogun State Government is set to boost protection around schools across the state. Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the plan during Eid-el-Kabir celebrations with the League of Imams and Alfas. He said the move responds to recent security threats in neighbouring states. Under the new initiative, the So-Safe Corps, Amotekun Corps, local hunters and vigilante groups will patrol school premises. Traditional rulers, religious leaders and law enforcement agencies will work together to coordinate surveillance and ensure swift response. Stipends will be provided to support those on duty. A Direct Impact Committee will also tour communities to identify and address local needs. The team will oversee the installation of transformers, boreholes, solar streetlights and other essential amenities. It will deliver monthly financial support to grassroots residents in each polling unit. The governor thanked religious leaders for their prayers and pledged ongoing collaboration with security agencies. He reiterated that safeguarding students remains a top priority for his administration.
