Army Bolsters Ranks with 8,000 New Soldiers in Nationwide Security Push

The Nigerian Army has graduated over 8,000 new soldiers at the Depot in Osogbo, Osun State. This ceremony, led by COAS Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, marks a major step in reinforcing operations against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping across Nigeria. The recruits are part of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to enlist 28,000 additional personnel. They completed rigorous training designed to build endurance, tactical skills, and leadership qualities needed for modern warfare. Lieutenant General Shaibu urged the new soldiers to uphold discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights. He expressed confidence that they would strengthen ongoing operations and help restore lasting peace. The Osun State Government, represented by the Deputy Governor, congratulated the graduates and pledged continued support for the Armed Forces as they embark on active duty.

Absolutely, boosting troop numbers can tighten security lines and discourage kidnappers, especially if operations get clear coordination.

Graduating thousands of recruits looks impressive, but historical underfunding and delayed deployments often slow actual improvements on the ground.

We can applaud the numbers, but adding more soldiers alone won't solve Nigeria's security challenges without better leadership and coordination.

Make local vigilante groups dey coordinate with these new soldiers to share intelligence and improve response times in rural areas.
