Plateau Labour Unions Mark May Day with Calls for Cheaper Power and Safer Communities
Workers across Plateau State gathered at the Polo Field on May Day 2026 to demand urgent federal action on the energy crisis. The rally, led by the NLC, TUC and CLO, highlighted the strain of rising power costs and erratic supply on ordinary citizens. Labour leaders warned that recent international tensions have worsened energy challenges. They urged the government to secure stable and affordable electricity, stressing its role in protecting small businesses and maintaining job security. The unions also linked energy shortages to poverty and national insecurity. While commending Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s worker-friendly policies, they emphasized that lasting relief depends on decisive interventions at the federal level to ensure safety and a fair standard of living for all Nigerians.
