We Delivered 2m Votes for Buhari but Got Nothing Back, Says Kwankwaso

Former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso told Arise TV that his camp helped Muhammadu Buhari win in 2015. He said they delivered almost two million votes yet saw no personal or constituency benefits. He recalled risking everything to end the Peoples Democratic Party’s 16-year hold on power. “We brought about 1.9, almost 2 million votes,” he said. “We put our lives on the line, but we received nothing in return.” Kwankwaso reviewed past administrations, praising Obasanjo’s efforts, noting Yar’Adua’s health struggles, and blaming an alleged one-term deal for Jonathan’s challenges. On President Tinubu’s government, he warned of growing discontent. He said his alliance with Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress has energized supporters across the country and beyond. He stressed that future leadership should be chosen for quality, not just geography.

Kwankwaso's camp did play a key role, but is it fair to judge an entire administration solely on personal gains?

Future campaign teams should negotiate clear post-election support agreements to ensure communities actually benefit from their voting efforts.
