Are Excessive Campus Religious Activities Disrupting Nigerian Universities?

I argue that freedom of religion is a right, but some campus worship gatherings have become major distractions. From prayer groups forming between lectures to multi-day crusades, students and lecturers often prioritize miracle-seeking over study. These activities lead to cancelled lectures, competition for study spaces, and a decline in academic focus. I share examples from federal and state universities where halls were leased for religious events and prayer sessions clashed with preparation for exams. Such disruptions threaten hard work, creativity, and research efforts. I call on university authorities to restrict indiscriminate religious activities during academic periods and ensure campuses remain centers for learning and innovation.
