Why Africans Must Rethink Their ‘Whiteface’ Obsession
Many Africans admire foreigners without questioning their motives. This mindset dates back to colonisation. Our ancestors’ hospitality was exploited for enslavement. Today, a “fetish of White prestige” is still bred into us. Churches preaching a White Jesus, media portrayals, puppet governments, Western-biased schools and shops full of skin-bleaching creams all reinforce this worship. I once met a retired British officer who was hired as a figurehead simply for his skin colour. He knew nothing of the business yet was treated like royalty. Scripture warns us not to trust our enemies. We must learn from history and apply critical thinking. Africans should break free from this misplaced reverence and value our own expertise. True progress starts in the mind.
