Are Nigeria’s Three Arms Governing Us or Just Serving Themselves?

Are Nigeria’s Three Arms Governing Us or Just Serving Themselves?

I’m worried about Nigeria’s direction. We learned that the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary should check each other. But today they seem to serve their own interests instead of ours. The Executive borrows and mismanages funds. Contracts vanish, projects exist only on paper, and everyday Nigerians struggle to eat, commute, and survive. Our legislators vote to boost their allowances but claim “no money” for minimum wage or palliatives. The courts move swiftly for the connected yet delay cases for ordinary citizens. I don’t have all the answers. Something must change, and it starts with honest conversations. What do you think — am I overreacting, or have we just normalized this reality?

True talk! Citizens must demand transparent budgets from every arm before anything changes.

It's hard to ignore how borrowing skyrockets while visible projects remain in limbo and contracts disappear.

But painting every government arm as entirely self-serving overlooks those leaders genuinely working to deliver public service.

Form local citizen committees to monitor contract awards and project progress, then share findings publicly to pressure accountability.
