Homecoming of the ‘Good Guys’: IGP Disu Returns to Lagos Rapid Response Squad
Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has returned to the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad to the warm embrace of his former team. Accompanied by AIG Zone 2 Oloundare Moshood Jimoh and CP Tijani Fatai, he thanked officers for their dedication and reminded them that the police serve the public funded by taxpayers. Commander CSP Shola Jejeloye expressed gratitude for Disu’s leadership and the positive legacy he left at RRS. Under his tenure, the unit earned the nickname “The Good Guys” by assisting stranded motorists, helping expectant mothers during lockdown and maintaining a people-friendly approach. The post also highlights Lagos’s security evolution, from the secret military patrols of Operation Sweep in the 1990s to the formal launch of RRS in 1999. Thanks to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, today’s squad operates armoured vehicles, drones and modern communication tools to tackle crime. Many Lagosians in the comments say the squad hasn’t been the same since Disu departed in 2021, underscoring the impact of his leadership on the city’s safety and community relations.
