Kwara Governor Urges Tinubu to Raise Minimum Wage to ₦100,000
In Lagos on Friday, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq appealed to President Tinubu to increase the national minimum wage to ₦100,000. He spoke during a visit by members of the Nigeria Governors Forum, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, to the presidential residence. The governor pointed out that several states have already begun paying at least ₦100,000 as a starting salary. He asked the President to back a formal discussion on adjusting the national wage floor to that amount. President Tinubu signed the new National Minimum Wage Bill into law in July 2024. That law raised the minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000.
