Two Arrested After Attempted Arson at Finchley Synagogue
Police have detained a 47-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man following an attempted arson at a synagogue in Finchley. Authorities are treating the incident as an antisemitic hate crime. Investigators say the suspects, dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas, entered the building just after midnight. They placed two glass bottles believed to contain petrol by the windows and hurled a brick, but the devices failed to ignite and no damage or injuries were reported. The Met Police’s North West Area Command Unit, with support from Counter Terrorism Policing London, is leading the inquiry. Officers have increased patrols in the area and are urging anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage to come forward.
